POLICE are appealing to the public to help return a collection of jewellery that was found in Winterbourne.

The items, which police believe may have been stolen, include a Cartier watch, a solitaire ring, a ring set with a large colourless stone with smaller stones either side, a pair of stud earrings set with large colourless stones and a red Cartier jewellery box.

Police have so far been unable to identify the rightful owners after the collection was handed in on Tuesday, November 22, having been found at the end of October by a member of the public who was litter-picking along a bridleway off Church Lane, Winterbourne.

Officers have asked for anyone with information which could help us identify the rightful owner of these items is asked to get in contact, either by calling 101 or visiting www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact and quoting reference 5216259594.

Residents have been recommended by police to use a traceable asset marking liquid on jewellery or antiques and suggest keeping high-value items in a ground-anchored safe which has been tested and approved by locksmiths.
