SANTA Claus and his elves have been spreading joy to children around Thornbury and Alveston every weekend of December during the lead-up to Christmas.
His visits every Friday, Saturday and Sunday organised by Thornbury Round Table volunteers has raised £2810.18 for local charities.
Last weekend’s total is still to be counted. Volunteer Stephen Hales explained that Santa has finished residential visits but will do a final run on his sleigh to collect funds at pubs in Thornbury on Friday - beginning at the Wheatsheaf on Chapel Street at 7pm.
His sleigh was kitted out with Christmas lights and music making it easy to see and hear so that children didn’t miss out on their opportunity to meet Santa Claus.
A member of Thornbury Round Table, Paul Henty, said: "We would like to thank all of the volunteers from local charities, schools and clubs who came out in all weathers to help us.
“A big thank-you also goes to the residents of Thornbury and Alveston for their generosity in donating a fantastic amount this year."
“It would be impossible for us to raise this money and bring Christmas cheer to the local community on our own.”
