AN ARCHITECT from Wotton-under-Edge said that the legacy of a church in the town could be destroyed if plans to make changes to the building’s interior went ahead.

He criticised proposals to make alterations to St Mary’s Church which had been fine-tuned by members of the church council over several years.

The proposed changes included removing some pews, taking out part of a railing and installing an inside toilet, as well as an area for basic refreshments to be made.

DURSLEY residents were infuriated by a spate of anti-social behaviour, vandalism and the use of legal highs at the town’s recreation ground.

Outdoor gym equipment was damaged and storage areas were raided and vandalised over one night.

Councillors criticised the “mindless vandalism” and urged anyone with information to pass it onto police.
