SHOWCASING a typical day for the police force in the county, Gloucestershire Constabulary will host a 24-hour ‘Twitterthon’ starting at 7am tomorrow.

The force will use social media platform Twitter to share details of ongoing incidents whilst information about the work done by individual departments will also be shared.

In some circumstances details of incoming calls to the police’s control room will be tweeted as well as facts and figures about the constabulary.

Chief constable Suzette Davenport said: “This Twitterthon is our chance to show you the variety of incidents we deal with on a daily basis.

“Police themed films and documentaries can give a dramatic and inaccurate portrayal of our work, but this event will showcase the reality of policing within Gloucestershire.

“We hope the Twitterthon will help our communities understand what it is we do all day, every day of the year to support them, help protect them from harm and bring offenders to justice.”

The event will run until 7am on Saturday (January 14) and will take place on Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Twitter account at twitter.com/Glos_Police and on the hashtag #GlosPol24.
