FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a fire on a row of six garages in Thornbury on Friday, 13.

Avon Fire and Rescue were called to the site at Eastbury Close, near to St Mary’s Church Hall and the town’s Community Hospital at 8.30pm.

Fire fighters were sent from both the Thornbury and Patchway Fire Stations to tackle the garage fire that the rescue team describe as being “well-alight when crews arrived.” They attended the scene for 90 minutes.

A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue said that they believe the fire was “started deliberately”.

The Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the fire as a possible arson attack.

An ASPolice Thornbury tweet from Avon and Somerset Police published images at the scene showing firefighters using high pressure hoses to tackle the fire, and they too questioned whether it was deliberate.
