A CARE home in Yate is celebrating result from a recent inspection after positive feedback across the core criteria.

Stanshawes Care Home, which received an unannounced visit from the Care Quality Commission, was given an overall rating of “good” from the inspection, with the same grade being given across the individual points of being safe, effective, caring, responsive to residents’ needs and well led.

The home, which is run by Four Season Health Care, was described by inspectors as allowing people to feel safe, treating them with kindness, dignity and respect.

The inspectors saw that people were looked after by staff who know the importance of having good relationships and interacted very well with residents in a caring and compassionate way, being knowledgeable of each person’s individual needs and preferences.

It was highlighted in the report that residents were supported to have choice and were encouraged to make their own daily decision, as well as having a hand in writing their care plans, which were adjusted as their needs changed.

An array of comments and feedback were presented to inspectors from residents, including describing staff as “superb” and “so kind” with residents feeling they “could not be better looked after”

Relatives and other visitors said they always found the home to have a “good atmosphere” and that you “cannot fault any of the staff”.

Amanda Cunningham, regional managing director of Four Seasons Health Care, said: “It’s a credit to the dedication of the care team that the home was rated as good overall and against each of the core criteria that the CQC inspectors use.

“It is also heartening to see the very positive comments by residents and their relatives and to know the team is so well appreciated.”
