THE NEW head teacher of The Castle School is set to meet with staff today amid rumours of redundancies at the school.
Will Roberts, chief executive of the Castle School Education Trust (CSET), took the helm of the school last month following Peter Smart’s appointment as interim principal of Winterbourne International Academy.
The switch came after Winterbourne was taken over from the Ridings Federation by a partnership of CSET and Olympus Academy Trust.
Mr Roberts, a former head teacher of Downend School and executive principal of Mangotsfield School, declined to comment on the nature of the meeting, aside from it looking at finances for next year.
He added: “The financial context for all schools nationally is challenging at present, and with the majority of funding going towards staffing, we are continuing to look at it.”
