STAFF and tenants of Stroud District Council are to feature in 14 episodes of a 20-part BBC series which starts on Monday (February 27).

The council worked with production company Twofour over an eight-month period to record a behind-the-scenes look at the council’s work in housing for BBC One show ‘The Housing Enforcers’.

Amongst the stories which were captured on camera are work with a tenant with dementia, eviction of tenants who failed to pay rent and when presenter Matt Allwright took part in a keep fit class at a sheltered housing unit.

The first episode will air at 9.15am although the first appearance of Stroud District Council will be the following day (Tuesday).

The weekday show will run each week day for 20 episodes concluding on March 24.

Cllr Mattie Ross, chairman of the council’s housing committee, said: “Making The Housing Enforcers was a great opportunity to show the dedication of the housing team and the good work they do in managing homes for our tenants.

“At a time when public services are in the spotlight, we hope that it provides a valuable insight into the work that the council undertakes which people know little about.”
