ON Wednesday, February 22 the club held its 60th AGM which was well attended.

Jean Boakes, our chairman for the past three years, read her report and thanked the committee for all their hard work during the past years.

Our new chairman for the next three years is Sally Taylor and the vice chairman is Sue Williams.

The rest of the committee have agreed to serve for another year.

Brenda Cooke is also joining the committee.

Christine Mullins was the overall winner in our monthly competitions but was unable to attend to collect the cup.

Jane Smith, our president, presented a figurine to Nora Bamford who came first in the Novice class.

Our annual award and certificate was presented to Jean McFeggan for all her hard work during the past year.

Kathleen Taylor was presented with a voucher for all her help with our practice classes which are always fun and enjoyable.

The club raised £600 last year for McMillian Cancer Support.

Our charity for this year is the South West M.S. Therapy Centre.

The presentations were followed by a demonstration given by Jayne Morris entitled ‘Time for Hobbies’.

Jayne loves watching the winter sports on the television. For her first arrangement her chosen flowers were white chrysanthemums, lisianthus and roses to represent the snow.

A pair of ice skates were placed alongside the display as an accessory.

Jayne made several other displays, all depicting her other hobbies which are cooking, reading, gardening and flower arranging.

Jayne hopes to retire this year and take up painting.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, March 15 when Sharon Dower will give a floral demonstration entitled ‘Nature’s Cast Offs’.

This will be held at the Armstrong Hall, Thornbury.

Doors open at 2pm.

Friends and visitors will be most welcome.

Our open meeting will be held on Monday evening, April 24, when Katherine Kear will be our speaker and demonstrator.
