A POPULAR pub in Nympsfield has opened up a village shop after spotting a gap in the market.
The Rose and Crown, sister pub of the Falcon Steakhouse in Wotton-under-Edge, now sport a general store in the corner of the building.
Owner Andy Starling said that they decided to open a shop after noticing that there was “something missing in the village”.
He said: “We opened about six weeks ago and so far it’s been a success with everyone.
“We’re stocking all the basic necessities for people who don’t want to go all the way to a supermarket.”
According to the business owner, the best selling products so far include the confectionary and cans of fizzy drink.
Other items for sale at the pub include dried goods, milk, bread, bags of logs and beef sourced locally from a family farm.
Andy said: “People are loving how easy it is to get their everyday essentials.”
