WITH THE mass integration of electronic communication, emails, social media and the internet in today’s society, how many people actually still use their Post Office?

A traditional shop within most rural towns, the Post Office is one of those places that you would not normally associate with the younger members of the community, who are less inclined to send letters.

And with the increasing number of competing courier services, and the ease of next-day deliver and click-and-collect, the youth of today are finding themselves even more hard-pressed for a reason to visit.

But in a town with a relatively elderly population, like Thornbury, there is always going to be a need for the basic services that the Post Office provides.

And this is why it is so important that such a business remains within Thornbury, regardless of location, as despite it slowly becoming dated, it is of vital importance to many.

Hopefully the discussions on if and where the branch might move will be concluded soon with a solution that benefits the Post Office, the landlords and, most importantly, the community.
