IT was an honour for the Gazette to attend the funeral of three-year-old Ivie Boulton, who captured the hearts of the people of South Gloucestershire during her battle with a rare illness.

Attending a funeral is always upsetting, but it is even more tragic when the deceased is just three-years-old.

Memories of this special little girl will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Ivie was a happy little soul, with a cheeky smile and a real love for nature, ballet and being in water.

It is a testimony to the joy she inspired in others that so many people in the communities of South Gloucestershire stepped up to help the Boulton family at this devastating time.

Multiple fundraisers have been held in Ivie’s honour, which have collectively raised thousands of pounds.

Although the money raised is extremely generous, what is more important about these events is how they demonstrate the love and support of people in the community.

Thoughts and prayers for Ivie have flooded social media sites, and there was not a dry eye in the house in the room at her funeral on Wednesday.

Rest in Peace Ivie, you are dearly loved and will be missed by all.
