TODAY 39-year-old Glenn Richards of Pitman Place, Wotton was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

Richards was handed the sentence after four breaches of the court order including ‘contacting a child aged under 16’ and ‘failing to make available internet capable devices’.

He was convicted in 2010 of having sexual activity with an under-aged girl and a grooming three other youngsters.

As such, he was placed on a sex offenders prevention order until further notice.

The officers in charge of the case, PC Chris Scott and DS Paul Howell, say they are pleased with today’s outcome.

"Today’s sentence shows how seriously we take these kind of breaches and how important it is to ensure offenders released under these orders are closely monitored.

"The restrictions were put in place to protect some of the most vulnerable people in our society and we are pleased the courts took the same opinion as us – they must be protected."
