AMBERLEY will once again play host to a herd of brilliant bovines in honour of the annual cow hunt.

To celebrate the upcoming arrival of the real cows to the surrounding common, over 30 dressed up (wooden) cows will be located in various places around the village of Amberley and the surrounding common.

Amberley Parochial School pupils designed the array of ‘amoosingly’ named cows, last year these featured RMoo-D2, Beef Lightyear, Dairy Poppins, Angelina Bullerina and Moonet.

Event organiser Deb Govier said: “We are herding together the family and friends for an afternoon of great British eccentricity in the glorious Gloucestershire countryside.

“The great Amberley Cow Hunt welcomes back cow hunters who return year after year to walk the route and catch up with family and friends at the famous vintage tea tent.”

Visitors can rest and refresh at the vintage tea tent on the green outside the school, complete with an array of homemade cakes and wonderful views.

Face painting and other children’s activities will be the order of the day along with the fabulous Cow Hunt quiz.

Quiz sheets and trail maps, which cost £5 each, are available from the start of the trail outside Amberley Parochial School.

Funds raised will go to help the school, as well as the Bath-based charity Send a Cow to provide livestock for families in Africa.

The event is held on bank holiday weekend, Saturday, April 29 till Sunday, April 30 from 1-5pm each day.
