THIS year the gardening club is celebrating its 75th anniversary, having been established in 1942 as part of the dig for victory campaign and named Slimbridge Home Food Production Club.
In 1942 a flower and vegetable show was held in the village hall and this tradition has carried on with a Spring and Summer show still being held each year.
Our shows are now open to all and at our March meeting we were given a very informative talk by Carole Jeffes on ‘showing’ and the correct way to display entries.
This brings us to our next event which is the Spring show to be held on Saturday, April 8 in Slimbridge Village Hall. Entries can be made up until April 5.
Even if you do not wish to enter, please come along to view the exhibits from 2pm on the day and take advantage of the opportunity to buy some plants and have a cup of tea and cake.
