A ROAD in Quedgeley has been closed both ways due to a burst water main.

School Lane was closed by Severn Trent at about 3pm.

There is slow traffic in the area due to the incident.

The burst main is close to Field Court Drive, Severnvale Drive and Severn Vale School.

A spokesman for Severn Trent said: "We’re currently dealing with a burst water pipe in the Quedgeley area of Gloucester.

"Engineers are currently on site in Bristol Road [which runs along the east side of School Lane] so they can isolate the nine inch pipe and start repairing it.

"Homes in the local area may find they have low pressure or no water supply at this time and we’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

"Traffic restriction are in place on Bristol Road and we’d advise motorists to allow extra time for their journeys this evening.

"Our engineers will work as quickly as possible to get the pipe fixed and return everything back to normal.

"We know how difficult it is to have no water and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

"We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can."
