A CHIPPING Sodbury real estate agency has donated £1,000 earned from the sale of a house to a hospice who cared for the owner before she died.

The cheque, which represents the commission earned from the sale of the home, was presented to St Peter’s Hospice by Neil Farrington, managing director of Farrington’s Sales and Lettings, at the charity’s Chipping Sodbury shop yesterday.

The house’s former owner, Barbara Butcher had been cared for by St Peter’s in the weeks before she passed away.

Her son’s Pete and Neil said they were extremely grateful to the hospice’s staff for the care that was shown towards their mother, which prompted Mr Farrington, who had himself had similar experiences with his uncle being cared for at St Peter’s, to make the generous donation.

Mr Farrington said: “The sale of this property came about after the owner had passed away.

“The family were so grateful for everything St Peter’s Hospice did, and it struck a chord with the company - myself having lost a family member to cancer a few years ago - so we are pleased to be donating our commission for this sale to St Peter’s Hospice.”

Sarah Allen-Gun, head of fundraising at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “We are very grateful to Neil and the team at Farrington’s for generously donating their commission to St Peter’s Hospice.

“This donation will help us to continue our vital work and ensure that every patient receives the same exemplary level of care as Mrs Butcher.”
