MUSICIANS have teamed up to pay tribute to legendary rocker Chuck Berry at a charity gig in Chipping Sodbury this Sunday.

Berry, widely regarded as the father of Rock‘n’Roll having inspired musicians all over the world since the 1950’s, passed away on March 18.

To celebrate the “Johnny B. Goode” and “Roll Over Beethoven” star, music lovers are being invited to come along the R.O.C.K for Charity day at The George Hotel Chipping Sodbury, to fundraise for St Peter’s Hospice.

The R.O.C.K for Charity organisation with it's moto 'Helping other through Music' has been going for more than seven years, staging two events at the hotel every year, and has raised more than £10,000 for good causes.

As well as musicians performing on two stages throughout the day, there will be plenty for children to enjoy including a bouncy castle and facepainting.

Performing at the event will be local musician Jimmy Lee’s rockabilly band “The Red Hot Trio”, who will be joined by guitarist Steve Hoare for a special tribute during the set.

Steve, who became a Chuck Berry fan after seeing him perform at the Colston Hall in the 90’s, said: “I find his music totally energising and infectious, I loved the humour and his ability to tell a complete story in just a few minutes.

“As for his guitar playing, well that just totally blew me away and I just wanted to incorporate his style into my playing.

“To be able to join up with The Red Hot Trio and honour Chuck in this way means a lot.”
