A NEW sensory garden is to be unveiled in Frampton Cotterell this weekend and residents are invited to attend its grand opening.
The garden is located behind the Brockeridge Centre and was planted by award winning landscape gardener Gary Bristow in order to create a space that can be “enjoyed by all”.
A spokeswoman for Floral Friends of Frampton Cotterell, who are behind the project, explained that the plants have been specifically chosen for their “sensory qualities”.
This means people can enjoy not simply looking at the plants but also touching, smelling and tasting them.
She added: “Some of them can be used as herbal remedies as well as cooking ingredients, whilst others are intended to attract pollinators like bees to the garden.”
The grand opening will take place on Saturday, April 29 between 10am and 12pm. A speech will be given by Celia Zlobek, chair of Floral Friends, while Gary Bristow will plant a new tree.
A small photographic display of the garden will show how it was made, and there will be refreshments and children’s activities on offer as well as plants for sale.
