AT our April monthly meeting, our president Jenny had arranged for our two ‘Coming of Age’ ladies to celebrate their 80th Birthdays with a lovely cake.

Maeve Aldridge who joined Inner Wheel in 1995, and Gloria Gunn who joined in 1981.

Both ladies, who are local residents of Dursley and Cam have been very popular and always very helpful with all the activities that the IW perform for the local community.

Truly wonderful members loved and respected by us all.

Our guest speaker was a young lady, Helen Mackie, who is the community and events officer for Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home, with the great privilege of working with the most extraordinary children and families.

A few very sad stories were told, but although the children have a life limiting illness and are not going to reach adulthood, they are not dying today.

Therefore her work is about ensuring the best quality of time possible.

Relationships that are built with the parents are also vital ,especially during the child’s end of life stage.

A charming and very enthusiastic young lady doing a very wonderful and rewarding job, one not everyone would be able to handle with such energy and enthusiasm.

After a warm thank you from Maeve we celebrated our “Coming of Age “ladies with a birthday song and the cutting of the cake.
