LABOUR have unveiled their candidate to stand in Thornbury and Yate for the general election on June 8.

Brian Mead, 52, who currently lives in Horfield, has represented the party on Filton Town Council for the past six years, and currently serves as vice-chair of the council’s finance committee.

The 52-year-old security company employee has been named by the party to stand against fellow candidates: Conservative Luke Hall, Liberal Democrat Claire Young and Green Party candidate Iain Hamilton.

Having previously worked on the railways and holding local, divisional and national positions on the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union, Mr Mead is secretary of Bristol Speedway Supporters Club and an active member of Unite the Union and the Co-operative Party.
