HUNDREDS of cows returned to the free-roaming pastures of Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons on Saturday.
The cattle are released on May 13 each year on an event called Marking Day.
Signs have been set up at the main entrances to the commons to warn motorists of the bovine guests.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and to stay alert.
Staff and volunteers from the National Trust, which owns and manages the commons, had stalls at The Old Lodge with informaton about the area's plants and insects.
Stroud Valleys Projects and Butterfly Conservation were also on hand for information and questions.
