STORY time at a school in Chipping Sodbury had an unusual twist recently, as a firefighter came to read to the children.
Dressed in full uniform, the fireman made a special visit to pupils at Raysfield Infants' School in Chipping Sodbury, where he read stories to each class.
The aim was to encourage children to develop a love of reading as a part of the school's book week, which took place in early May.
Sarah Sheppard, Headteacher of the school, said: "It is so important for the children to see positive role models reading, and the visit really helped to inspire them."
The children also enjoyed trips to Yate Library and took part in a ‘design a new front cover’ competition over the course of the book week.
A number of 'Stay and Read' sessions enabled the pupils to also enjoy stories with their parents, guardians and grandparents.
