PROPOSALS to build 60 homes off St John’s Way in Chipping Sodbury have been met with concern.

Housing developer Cotswold Homes plans to build 60 dwellings, comprising of detached, semi-detached and terraced housing, on land at Trinity Lane.

They have yet to submit a planning application to the council, but are currently asking for local people's views on the potential development.

However Liberal Democrat Candidate for Thornbury and Yate Claire Young has since told the Gazette that “Cotswold Homes are jumping the gun” with their application, as the land has "not been earmarked for development".

She said: "Local people have told me they really value this open countryside. They fear if it's built on it won't be able to stop St John's Way flooding.”

Cotswold Homes have recently set up a website to gather the opinions of residents in the area on a variety of different aspects of the site.

They are asking residents to comment on a variety of issues, including whether or not affordable housing is required in the area and whether or not there are any infrastructure constraints.

Residents have until June 2 to submit comments, which will be used by the developer to make a case for the site.
