The British School’s bid was successfully backed by parents, friends and the community.

Celebrations continued after the ship’s launch with a Pirate themed day where children and adults dressed up and took part in pirate-themed activities throughout the day.

Shoppers at Tesco voted for the British School by placing blue tokens into a container at nearby stores.

The skull and crossbones flag on the front of the ship was proudly flying as all of the schools pupils climbed aboard to enjoy their new playground vessel.

Further schemes to develop the school’s outdoor areas are in the works to give the children move choice and wider opportunities at playtime.
