OWNERS of a homemade curry business in Slad have launched a Father’s Day menu, alongside a Sunday lunch option and new website.

D &L Beverages, started by two mums in last year and run from their base by the mill-pond in Slad, sell an eight-week rotating menu of homemade curries which can be delivered or picked up.

Before now their curries were only available from 5pm-9pm on Fridays, but trade has now increased enough to allow the business to offer Sunday meals – this will start when weather is consistent enough to allow outdoor service, follow their website for updates.

Rehana Zahid, who has tried to tone down the spiciness of her traditional Pakistani cooking, said that business was continuing to flourish.

She said: “We now have about 600 customers and are seeing more and more regulars coming back for more.

“We hope the new website and menu options will bring in more people still and are glad to keep receiving such lovely feedback either in person or on TripAdvisor – we’re very proud of our five-star rating.”

This week Rehana and her business partner – who collect their fresh supplies from Gloucester each Thursday, before a full day of cooking – are offering a three-course Father’s Day Lunch menu, these supplies will be collected on Saturday (tomorrow).

Customers can choose from a starter of meat or vegetarian samosas, mains are either a beef Khari, stuffed peppers with mixed vegetables and cheese or the vegan option, stuffed peppers with mixed vegetables.

Blueberries are offered as a dessert and all meals include fried potatoes, fried vegetables, Kachroi and sweet and sour chutneys, mango lassies are also available for £5 a litre.

The meat three-course option is £18, and the vegetarian and vegan choices are £15.

You must place your order by 6pm today (Friday, June 16) for the Father’s Day Lunch Menu.

The new Sunday lunch option – which will start later this summer – will run the same choices as the Father’s Day special but the dessert will be Falooda with ice cream and seats can be reserved by the mill-pond in Slad for outdoor eating.
