THE University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) has been awarded a silver rating in a new Government ranking system.

The Teaching Excellence Framework has been introduced to help students choose where to study.

Universities across the country are rated either bronze, silver or gold based on a range of factors, including graduate employability and student survey results.

A silver rating is given to universities that consistently “exceed” the quality expected of a Higher Education providers in the UK.

In its judgement published today, the panel reported that UWE Bristol students achieved ‘excellent outcomes’.

Assessors also noted that a very high proportion of part-time UWE Bristol students proceeded to highly-skilled employment.

Professor Jane Harrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at UWE Bristol, said she was “delighted” with the ranking.

“Our staff across the whole university work extremely hard to ensure that students not only receive outstanding teaching, but also develop while they are with us and are ‘work ready’ from the day they finish their studies,” she said.

“The fact that we have achieved silver demonstrates the commitment and hard work of all our staff to ensuring this outcome.”

The University of Bristol and the University of Gloucester have also been given a silver ranking.
