PRESIDENT Jeff Martin welcomed members, our guest Terry Larkham and the speaker, Frank Axworthy.

John Smith reported on the ailing members.

Jeff then called Mike Bowkett forward to receive a Life Membership lapel badge.

The members were reminded of the previous meeting where a letter from the president of Ladies Probus asked for our opinion as to whether the two clubs might have closer ties.

This was discussed at length.

President Jeff thanked members for their observations and members agreed by 24 votes out of 28 present that the Management Committee should take their thoughts to the Ladies and come back with some proposals.

On July 15 the club will have a stand at The Dursley Carnival, advertising for new members.

On July 18 David Hiley will lead a walk at Cirencester.

The speaker - Frank Axworthy - then gave us a presentation called Wild Life of Gloucestershire.

This was a series of about 160 still and movie pictures within an hour delivered non-stop by an accomplished wild life enthusiast and picture maker.

We were taken through spring and summer seasons with a panache which rivalled the BBC spring watch programmes.

There were too many pictures of wild birds to pick out, ranging from water birds to those in meadows ,woodlands and in his back garden.

Then varieties of insects and their habitats. The vote of thanks was given by Len Freeth.

The next meeting will be on June 27 when the speaker will be Lorraine Pascoen: “Only Fools and Corsets - Experiences of a TV extra” speaker’s friend Roger Harmer, coffee Rick Blease and washer-up Gerry Pierce.
