AN investigation is underway after a barn containing gas and fertiliser caught fire in Yate on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to a poultry farm on Maple Ridge Lane at around 4.15pm, where they found a barn “well alight” and were forced to call for back up.
Eight fire engines and a hose layer unit attended the blaze, which was contained using a portable pump and hose reel.
A spokeswoman for Avon Fire and Rescue confirmed that the fire is still ongoing, but is "under control".
She said: "The fire is being supervised by a team of firefighters and is likely to burn out by itself in the next few hours."
The barn, which measured 47m by 27m, contained hay, fertiliser and an empty LPG cylinder.
