THOUSANDS of people made the most of Sunday's good weather at the Berkeley Show.

Held in the grounds of Berkeley Castle, the show underwent a major revamp this year to reinvigorate the show which had been hit by poor turnout and bad weather for the previous two events.

While attendance figures will not be officially sorted until next week, organisers said that turnout looked "very good" with changes to the event going down well with the public.

"Everything went really well," committee member Kathryn Hart said. "Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and there was a good vibe around the show.

"Turnout seems to have been very good and people I spoke to liked the changes we had made this year."

Along with a large variety of traditional agricultural show categories, a number of new attractions were introduced to the show, which was held in June for the first time, having previously been held on the August bank holiday weekend.

A children's area and variety of animals were on hand to keep younger visitors entertained while about 100 stalls set up in the picturesque grounds offering a variety of goods.

Another change introduced for this year was that all food vendors were from the area whilst beer and cider from a number of breweries in the county was served by the landlord of the award-winning Salutation Inn in Ham, Peter Tiley.
