TODAY’S front page shows just how much management decisions in education can affect the lives of pupils.
In Cam, children are being forced to leave their schools because the county council has stopped funding a bus.
This was a financial decision but the emotional ramifications will be massive on the kids affected as they have to reluctantly say goodbye to the classmates and teachers they’ve come to cherish.
Moving schools can be a devastating experience for children and you can be sure their parents wouldn’t have decided to relocate them unless there was no viable alternative.
At Rednock School, the decision to introduce new anti-bullying measures could have an equally transformative impact on pupils.
Children who are bullied at school carry the scars of their abuse throughout adult life, so for Rednock’s leaders to listen to pupils and parents and make changes is praiseworthy.
Bullying is an issue faced by every school and impossible to prevent completely, but if taking action stops just one child from years of torture, it’s worth it.
