POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 75-year-old man was left with facial injuries following a road-rage assault last week.

At approximately 9.15am on Wednesday, July 5 a man in a Citroen was driving along the B4066 when he noticed he was being tailgated.

The victim had travelled from North Woodchester toward the Coaley Peak viewpoint near Nympsfield when he pulled over to allow a van to overtake.

Damage was also caused to the victim's car.

The offender was driving a distinctive old decommissioned Royal Mail van where the red colour had faded.

Officers are looking to speak to a number of witnesses who were travelling in vehicles behind the van and stopped to help the victim.

Anyone with further information should call police on 101 and quote incident number 300 of Wednesday, July 5.
