A RUNNING club for mums in Thornbury has smashed a challenge they set for themselves in June, by running the length of the country twice.

The St Mary’s School Gates group were joined by Thornbury runners throughout last month in an attempt to run 1,000km, the distance from Thornbury to John O’Groats, raising awareness of the group as well as sponsorship for good causes Ezzy’s Wish to Walk and Jigsaw.

Kate Maskell, one of the club’s founders, said she was very pleased that they had gone above and beyond their target.

It is not yet known how much has been raised from the challenge, with sponsorship still being collected.

She added: “We would like to thank everyone who joined the challenge and dug deep to allow us to support the two very worthy local charities.”
