A MEMORIAL football match for popular Wickwar man Jack Addle will be held for the third year running.
The matches on Saturday, July 29 at Synwell Playing Fields will see Wotton Rovers faceoff against Charfield before the Jack Addle Allstars compete against Wickwar.
Jack, 26, passed away in 2015 following a tragic road collision, he was an avid footballer and former student at Katherine Lady Berkeley’s School.
To honour his love of football, his family, friends and former teammates come together each year for a day of sport, barbecue and disco.
Organiser Zoe Taylor said: “Any ex-teammates of Jack’s who would like to get involved should contact Rob Bannister at Wickwar Wanderers or Mike Thompson at Wotton Rovers.
“All are welcome to join Jack’s family and friends, so please come along, have some fun, and raise a glass to Captain Jack.”
With the score currently tied at 1-1 between the Allstars and Wickwar, winning in 2015 and 2016 respectively, the match is sure to be a competitive one as both sides compete to see their name engraved on this special trophy.
Jack’s sister Joanne Green previously told the Gazette: “He was ‘our Jack the Lad’.
“Jack was a loving son, grandson, brother and uncle, and he loved his music and his football.
"He was a cheeky chappie, always with a smile on his face.”
Wotton Rovers kick-off against Charfield at 2pm followed by Allstars versus Wickwar at 5pm.
The disco starts at 7pm and the barbecue will be running throughout the day.
