A NEW website has been launched to help residents keep track of policing priorities in South Gloucestershire and Bristol.

The site, launched by Avon and Somerset's police and crime commissioner Sue Mountstevens, will contain regular updates on what the police aim to accomplish.

This is a fresh bid to improve transparency and communication.

PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “As your PCC, I am here to communicate your views as local residents, with those who are here to keep you safe and feeling safe, the police.

"I have included what you have told me in my Police and Crime Plan and the police are working hard to deliver your priorities and improve your experience of policing.

“A significant part of the plan is my commitment to you in being open and transparent about what the police are working on and how they’re performing in different areas of policing.

"In a world where we police by consent, I want you to have the upmost confidence in your policing service and being able to see police performance I hope will help this.”

Areas of performance which the PCC will be monitoring include victim satisfaction, public confidence, dealing with local priorities, call handling, complaints and conviction rates.

On the website users can also find ways of getting involved in the local policing service including helping prevent crime, joining one of the PCC’s panels to help scrutinise policing and by volunteering as a special constable or police cadet.

Currently the Bristol and South Gloucestershire plans have been published with the other areas’ plans still in production.
