Chairman of Pegasus Group, to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats, in aid of cancer care charity Hope for Tomorrow

ON SUNDAY, July 9, 2017 Stephen Bawtree, Chairman of Pegasus Group, a locally based planning consultancy in Cirencester, set off from Lands End to cycle the 1,000 miles to John O’Groats, in aid of Tetbury based cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow, who built and launched the world’s first ever Mobile Chemotherapy Unit.

In September 2016, Stephen decided to sign up for this challenge to celebrate his 65th birthday in December 2016 and he wanted to take that opportunity to raise contributions for a charity. In March 2017 Stephen decided with his wife Sarah, to raise funds for the local cancer care charity Hope for Tomorrow, to support their Mobile Chemotherapy Unit Project. Hope for Tomorrow is a dedicated charity with a single aim: to bring cancer care closer to patients’ homes. Working in partnership with the NHS, it provides state-of-the-art Mobile Chemotherapy Units to bring cancer treatment closer to patients. Stephen said “As my wife and I both lost our Fathers to cancer, Hope for Tomorrow has a particular resonance.”

Christine Mills, founder of Hope for Tomorrow, said “We’re delighted that Stephen has decided to support Hope for Tomorrow and we are immensely grateful to him for all his efforts. We are amazed by the amount he has fundraised already! We wish him all the very best in what will be a fantastic challenge.”

Stephen said “I am really pleased with the sponsorship we are continuing to collect for Hope for Tomorrow and would welcome all and any further donations towards the charity which does such good work in the community to help those suffering from cancer.”

Since the launch of the first MCU in 2007, the charity has saved patients a total of over 2,000,000 miles and over 170,000 hours of travel and waiting time. Each patient treatment administered on board a Mobile Chemotherapy Unit costs the charity approximately £40. Please help the wheels turning and donate today.
