Leonard Stanley Wine Circle: The garden party falls foul to the weather again

FOR the second year running, our annual June garden party fell foul to the weather after the recent heat wave with temperatures in the mid 30s, our meeting venue was cancelled at the last minute and we gathered in the village hall.

The meeting was well attended and the Chairman opened the meeting by thanking David and Fiona for originally offering their garden for the planned party.

We had enjoyed many pleasant summer parties at their home in the past but this was not to happen this year.

With no speaker booked to fill the entertainment slot this time, Chairman Dave dug out a general knowledge table quiz which kept the meeting occupied and tested our brains with 30 questions about all aspects of the past and present.

The final score resulted in a tie between four tables and Dave offered a tiebreaker question but inadvertently gave the answer in the question.

The quiz finished hilariously and in confusion so the Chairman quickly suggested that we all retired to our wine glasses and plates of lovely food.

Our next meeting will be our annual July meeting which will find us at Swindon Greyhound Stadium watching dogs chasing a stuffed rabbit around a racetrack.

Don't let anyone tell you that Leonard Stanley Wine Circle doesn't like variety.
