Tesco Stroud Host Tea-riffic Party for Uplands Care Service

UPLANDS Care Services have been treated to a tea party by a local convenience store where attendees could help themselves to tasty treats.

Jacqui Beard, community champion, with colleagues Sharon and Karen from the Tesco store on Stratford Road went along on the day to help serve the refreshments. She also presented the charity with a cheque for a £1,000 donation.

Uplands Care Service is a local charitable organisation that provides intermediate day centre support for older people in Stroud. They offer a number of services ranging from gentle exercise sessions to a mini bus which transports people to and from the centre, as well as taking them on spontaneous local outings.

The store’s support follows a recent instore revamp which has seen improvements to the layout of the fresh produce sections and a newly transformed bakery. The store is now a cleaner and brighter space for customers.

Martin Rose, manager at the store in Stroud, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide an afternoon tea for the people who use the Uplands Care Service. The store team wanted to do something for the older residents in our community and an afternoon tea at Uplands Care Service was perfect.

“Whilst we are dedicated and focused on serving our customers and enhancing their shopping experience in our store, we are also keen to engage with and help to support our local community.”

Diane Vaughan from Uplands Care Service, said: “We can’t thank Tesco enough for their generous donation and for providing an afternoon tea for the people who use our services.

Everyone has had a lovely afternoon indulging in the sandwiches, cakes and endless cups of tea. The £1,000 donation will go towards putting another tea party on for our members as they enjoyed it so much.”
