WHEN the CEO of TSB Bank challenged his employees to beat his time at the London Triathlon, Shaun Hill, from Yate, accepted the offer.

Shaun, a Business Analyst at TSB, raised £720 for charity Crohn’s and Colitis UK in his attempt to top the time of his boss, Paul Pester.

Unfortunately for 31-year-old Shaun, competition was tough and he fell just shy of Paul’s time of 1:16:52 with a nonetheless impressive result of 1:27:48.

Describing his day, Shaun said: Taking part in the London Triathlon was a real test of endurance, but a lot of fun.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see how much money was raised for so many great causes. Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, including my CEO, Paul Pester.”

The triathlon, which took place on Saturday, July 22, saw more than 100 TSB workers and 30 representatives from the bank’s local charity attempt the “beat the boss” challenge.

Employees at the bank are encouraged to take part in the triathlon every year as part of a tradition started at the company in 2014.

CEO Paul, a keen triathlete and former swimmer, personally committed to sponsoring each TSB athlete £50 to go to a charity of their choice – doubling the amount to £100 if they managed to beat his time.

Paul told the Gazette: The London Triathlon was the culmination of many months of training for TSB Partners and our Local Charity Partners from across Britain.

“The atmosphere was fantastic as always, and it was great to see lots of friends and family out supporting our triathletes who put in a great performance – especially those who ‘Beat The Boss’!

“We’ve already raised over £36,000 for over 30 great causes right across Britain.

“This is a demonstration of ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help their communities thrive – and a great example of what TSB is setting out to achieve through our partnerships with Pride of Sport and Pride of Britain.”

So far, Shaun has raised £720 for his chosen charity, and in total TSB Partners have raised over £36,000 as a result of the triathlon.
