A DOCTOR’S surgery in Cam has been forced to change its phone number after it was caught up in a mass-marketing campaign which flooded its lines.
The previous phone number for Cam and Uley Family Practice's Cam centre was used by an unknown company, directing calls from across the country to the practice.
Patients wishing to book appointments were left unable to get through to the surgery’s reception earlier this month.
As a result, the surgery has had to temporarily change its phone number until a permanent solution to the issue has been found, according to a message on the surgery entrance.
The message reads: "The surgery has experienced a significant intrusion of its phone lines.
"A company of unknown origin has used the number as a response to a mass marketing campaign.
"This has resulted in our reception receiving calls from the whole of the country."
The new number for the surgery is 01453 540066.
