CELEBRATIONS have begun for excellent A-level results achieved by students at the combined sixth form representing Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury School and Yate Academy.

Cotswold Edge Sixth Form (CEDGE), the consortium of the three schools, has seen a great selection of results, with 100 per cent of its pupils in 25 of its 27 courses securing A*-E grades.

Overall, 71 per cent received an A*-C grade and 17 per cent obtained an A*-A.

Matching last year’s achievements, 13 per cent achieved at least AAB or better in “facilitating subjects”, those especially valued by top universities.

Among the high performers were Louise Barnaby who secured her place at Cambridge with an incredible four A*s, Ben Slinn  who achieved A*AA, Emily Avent with AAA, Amy Greenslade and Natasha Sadier both with AAB, Dillon Cohen and Marcus Flint with ABB and Dan Potts with ABC.

The head teachers of the three schools were quick to praise their students and staff for the hard work they had put in throughout the past two years.

Kim Garland, from Brimsham Green, said: “I am thrilled that the partnership working of our three schools has enabled so many students to exceed their expected grades.”

Chipping Sodbury’s Gareth Millington added: “Students have been able to study a wide and exciting combination of subjects at CEDGE, and the results testify that students have really benefitted from this.

“We are very proud of our Sixth Form students’ A-level results this year and have again seen an improvement in our results from previous years. Our students have secured their places at a wealth of universities including Cambridge, Bristol, Exeter, UWE and Cardiff.”

Paul Skipp, principal of Yate Academy, concluded by saying: “Our Year 13 students have worked with determination and made superb progress; the excellent support of their teachers has prepared them well for further study.”

Students currently studying GCSEs and entering Sixth Form in September 2018 are asked to attend the Cotswold Edge open evening on Thursday, November 16.
