POLICE are appealing for information after a fire at a home in South Gloucestershire, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Fortunately no one was hurt by the fire on Ellicks Close in Bradley Stoke, with the residents, a woman and her two children, getting out safely.

The incident happened at about 3.45am on Saturday.

Extensive damage was caused, however, to the garage, including a number of appliances and garden tools, as well as a car parked on the driveway.

Investigating officer PC Ryan Day said: “The outcome could have been so much worse.  At the time the fire started, the two young children and their mother were fast asleep inside.

“I’d urge anyone in the area at the time, or who may have information to help our investigation, to get in touch.”

A 17-year-old voluntarily attended a police station in connection with the incident and was released without charge.

Anyone with information that could assist police inquiries are asked to contact police on the Avon and Somerset Police website, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5217184813.
