GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S disappointed head coach Richard Dawson blamed poor batting for his side's defeat and elimination.

They totalled just 130 in Thursday’s T20 Blast defeat to Surrey at the Kia Oval. Gloucestershire’s Jack Taylor top-scored with just 28 as Surrey reached 134-8 to win by two wickets in a tight thriller.

Nevertheless, it is the second game in succession that the batting side have let Gloucestershire down after skipper Michael Klinger blasted the side following their miserable 61 runs defeat at Middlesex on Tuesday which saw them hit just one hundred all out in less than 16 overs.

Dawson echoed Klinger’s comments saying: "To only put 130 on the board on a decent deck and on a fast outfield really wasn't good enough.

“But to fight and scrap as we did to take it into the last over, well I really can't fault the bowlers.

“We tried hard, but you can't keep putting 130 on the board and experience t to win games of cricket in this format."
