A MAN arrested after an explosion at an ATM in Iron Acton was involved in a car crash following the incident, it has emerged.
Police officers were called to the Esso garage on Yate Road, Iron Acton, near Yate shortly after 12.30am this morning, following reports of a cash machine being blown up.
After fleeing the scene, the car in which the suspect was travelling was involved in a road collision. It is understood that the man sustained minor head injuries and that up to two accomplices may have fled the scene, leaving him in the car. The 27-year-old was arrested at the scene of the crash. It has been confirmed that the police were not pursuing the vehicle prior to the crash.
The petrol station remained closed this morning.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that a 27-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident and that enquiries are ongoing.
