A MAN has been rushed to hospital after his van collided with traffic lights in Thornbury this morning.
The traffic lights outside the Baptist Church on Gillingstool experienced substantial damage from the collision, with the van also hitting the control box a few metres away.
Police and an ambulance team were called out at 10.15am following reports of the incident.
The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle and sustained a number of injuries from the incident that were not thought to be serious, was then taken to Southmead Hospital.
A South Gloucestershire Council spokesman said: "We are aware of the incident involving one of our traffic lights on Gillingstool Road in Thornbury.
"Our StreetCare engineers have inspected the damage and will be organising repairs asap."
