AN air ambulance was called to Moreton Valence after reports that a man severed his penis in an industrial accident.

South West Ambulance Service crews arrived at the scene at 3.48pm on Monday and reported finding a man with "serious groin injuries."

It was reported that the man in question severed his penis with a saw.

He was taken to Southmead Hospital by the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity for his injuries to be assessed.

Police were called to the scene of the incident by the ambulance service at 4.30pm.

They found that a man had suffered "serious injuries."

Officers attending the incident said that it was not being treated as suspicious.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and will carry out an investigation.
