SOUTHMEAD Hospital Charity is asking ordinary people to do somethingextraordinary and become a hero for a day.

On October 6 schools, nurseries, businesses and workplaces across Bristol and South Gloucestershire will become superhero headquarters as children and adults dress as superheroes for the day to raise money for Southmead Hospital Charity’s Prostate Cancer Care Appeal.

Whether it’s Batman, Superman, Ironman or Wonder Woman - Hero for a Day is a fun way for people to transform from their usual clothes and change into a caped crusader.

Adrian Brown, Community Appeals Manager, said: “Every day ordinary people in our hospitals are doing heroic things and this is a super fun way of raising money for our Prostate Cancer Care Appeals - or a ward, department or unit that is close to your heart - so that you can be a hero to your hospital.

“Simply ask everyone in your office, school, university, work or club to dress as their favourite superhero and make a donation.

“You could also organise some additional fundraising like a cake sale or toddle walk to compliment your caped crusade.”

Schools, workplaces or other organisations who wish to take part can get a free fundraising pack which includes a superhero mask template that can be decorated.

The Prostate Cancer Care Appeal aims to raise £2million to purchase two surgical robots for the hospital to meet growing demand, fund new diagnostic and treatment options and to support the training of the next generation of robotic surgeons - improving outcomes for men with prostate cancer.
