HUNDREDS of people around Stroud district will take part in the ‘world’s biggest coffee morning’ this Friday.

The series of coffee mornings have been organise by Macmillan Cancer Support since 1990.

There are more than two dozen coffee mornings taking place this week in Stroud district as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise valuable funds for the charity.

Lister Shearing Equipment in Stonehouse hosted their coffee morning in advance last Friday and raised £175..

“Too many people are affected by cancer and so many families have been helped by Macmillan nurses,” said managing director Mark Grant.

“The company has experienced a lot of changes in the last few years and this was a great opportunity to not only remind ourselves that it is important to make time for our employees, but also to raise some money for such a worthwhile cause.”

Lister hosted its event early due to staff absences but most businesses in Stroud district will hold their coffee mornings on the official date of Friday, September 29.

“We do a lot of agricultural and equine events so it was a nice opportunity to do something different. And raise a lot of money for charity,” said sales manager David John, whose wife baked and donated Welsh bara brith – a type of fruit loaf.
