A NEW café bar is set to make Thornbury High Street its new home.

Bristol-based café chain Grounded set to take over the space between Co-Op and Lloyds Bank formerly occupied by dry cleaners Hard Pressed for Time.

Rumours had circulated for months as to who might take over the premises, with chains such as McDonald’s, Subway and Café Nero having been speculated as the new tenants.

The chain, which was established in Bristol in 2008, with cafés in the city as well as Bradford-on-Avon, Chippenham and Melksham, have said they aim to open their 12th in Thornbury early next year.

Confirming the move, Katie Taylor, marketing manager for Grounded said: “We’ve had our eye on Thornbury for a long time, and are thrilled to have secured a prime spot on the high street.

“Construction work on the site will start in the next couple of weeks, and if all goes according to plan we hope to open early in the New Year. “

The firm have applied to South Gloucestershire Council for a premises license, which will be discussed by Thornbury Town Council at their full council meeting this week.
