THE NEW home of supersonic jet Concorde is set to open later this month in South Gloucestershire.

Aerospace Bristol, located on Filton Airfield, has been under construction for many months, with a wide array of attractions, including aeroplanes, helicopters, missiles and satellites, being brought in to support the main attraction of Concorde Alpha Foxtrot, the last of its kind to fly.

The family exhibition, which will walk visitors through the area’s rich aerospace heritage and the extraordinary things that have been accomplished there over the past century, is set to open on October 17, with “speedy boarding” tickets already on sale.

Lloyd Burnell, executive director of Aerospace Bristol, said: “The team at Aerospace Bristol couldn’t be more excited that tickets are now on sale.

“The new museum will offer something for everyone: Concorde, as always, has the power to amaze and looks just stunning in her new home; we have created a first-class exhibition to tell the story of Bristol’s aerospace achievements from 1910 to the modern day, and there are great fun interactives to keep all members of the family interested and entertained.

“We hope that all those who saw Concorde on her final flight into Filton that historic day will want to be one of the first to come and pay tribute to this very special design and engineering icon and learn about the Bristol people who worked here over the years.”

With fundraising not yet complete, visitors who wish to support the Bristol Aero Collection Trust, the registered charity behind Aerospace Bristol, are asked to share their memories of Concorde via the museum’s ‘Concorde Memory Map’ and make a donation.

Shared memories will be added to the new museum’s digital archive – ensuring that they are preserved, ready to inspire the next generation.
